s.o.a — Artist Biography
s.o.a is the new experimental outlet of Robbie Duncan — a DJ, electronic musician, community mentor, and curator whose artistic DNA is rooted in Black electronic dance music, electronic jazz, and soulful house. After decades spent shaping dancefloors across the UK, deeply embedded in Stroud’s creative underground, s.o.a marks a deliberate move into uncharted sonic landscapes.
Where Robbie Duncan channels groove, warmth, and soulful elevation, s.o.a explores the edges: the liminal spaces between rhythm and abstraction, human emotion and machine logic. Influenced by a lifetime of listening, collecting 12inch records, and working with young creatives and communities, s.o.a treats sound as sculpture—layering texture, noise, pulse, space, and pattern into immersive environments.
This persona emerges from a drive to push beyond defined genres: folding in experimental electronica, ambient minimalism, broken-beat structures, modular improvisation, field recordings, and the raw electricity of live performance. The intention is not simply to entertain, but to provoke feeling, reflection, and curiosity. s.o.a invites listeners to step deeper beneath the surface into sound worlds shaped by decades of love for jazz sensibilities, electronic innovation, and the artistry of the dancefloor.
s.o.a is a space for risk, transformation, and sonic experimentation an evolution of the artist’s journey and an open door to whatever comes next.
